What is coronavirus?
Coronavirus is actually a family of diseases that is caused in animals. The one which is wrecking the entire world currently is the COVID-19. It is very similar to SARS, which out broke in Hong Kong in 2004. Another type of coronavirus broke out in middle east, which was called MERS (Middle East Respiratory System).
What are its symptoms?
This virus causes cold-like symptoms. People may be sick with the virus for 1 to 14 days before developing symptoms. The most common symptoms are comprised of fever, fatigue and dry cough. In the most severe cases, people may have difficulty in breathing, as the virus creates a fluid in the lungs.
How it all started?
Researchers have found out that it had took off from a wet market in Wuhan, which sells both dead and alive fish and birds. Such markets pose a heightened risk of viruses jumping from animals to humans, which is exactly what happened. This virus came from bats, which were chopped right in front of the customers. Bats don’t only pose a threat for coronavirus, they may also carry HIV, Ebola, rabies and other zoonotic diseases.
How to prevent the virus?
Preventing this deadly pandemic isn’t surprisingly hard. All one has to do is take care of themselves by frequently washing hands for 20 seconds continuously, keeping a hand sanitizer in their pocket and applying it every 20 mins when outside. But most importantly, always have a mask on. Some say that masks are unnecessary, which is true in some cases. However, it is always safer to have a mask, just in case you have to sneeze or cough. At least our cough or sneeze won’t be affecting others. Take USA and Europe for example. They though masks are useless. Look at them now. They are the leading countries worldwide in terms of no. of cases and deaths.
